Time-limited demands after the 2024 amendments

Georgia rewrote the rules for pre-suit settlement demands in motor vehicle cases. By Talal Perez Ghosheh · October 2026

A time-limited demand is an offer to settle within policy limits by a deadline. Georgia law lists what these demands must include for motor vehicle claims.

2024 changes

  • The material terms are the exclusive list of terms
  • Acceptance creates a bilateral contract
  • Insurers can seek clarification without it counting as a counteroffer
Why it matters: a properly drafted demand can protect you if the insurer unreasonably refuses to settle within limits.
